TCI Fund Management, Chris Hohn’s equity-focused firm, generated about $18.9 billion in gains last year, delivering the largest annual profit ever recorded, according to estimates cited by Bloomberg from Edmond de Rothschild.
That result eclipsed the previous high set by Ken Griffin’s Citadel in 2022 and topped the roughly $15 billion John Paulson earned in 2007 during the subprime mortgage collapse, Bloomberg reported.
TCI’s performance was anchored by major positions in industrial and aerospace groups, including General Electric Co. and France’s Safran SA. The windfall came amid a banner year for hedge funds globally, with total industry profits reaching an estimated $543 billion — another record, according to Bloomberg.
