Dubai-based ports operator DP World agreed to sell a minority stake in a key Saudi Arabian container terminal to APM Terminals, as it deepens its push to expand capacity and integrated logistics in the kingdom.
APM Terminals, part of A.P. Moller–Maersk, will acquire a 37.5% holding in the Southern Container Terminal at Jeddah Islamic Port, according to a statement. DP World will retain a 62.5% stake and continue to operate the facility. It didn’t disclose financial details.
The transaction underscores closer collaboration between the two global logistics players in Saudi Arabia, where both companies have been investing to build out end-to-end supply chain capabilities. DP World and Maersk have expanded integrated logistics infrastructure at Jeddah Islamic Port, linking the quay with warehousing, distribution centers and inland transport networks.
DP World secured a 30-year build-operate-transfer concession for the terminal in 2019. Since then, it has carried out a major modernization and expansion program at the Southern Container Terminal, boosting capacity and improving operational efficiency as trade flows through the Red Sea corridor grow.
