KKR opened an office in Abu Dhabi as the US private-equity giant accelerates its expansion across the Gulf, tapping growing investor demand and a wave of corporate dealmaking in one of the world’s fastest-growing financial hubs.
The new location, based in Abu Dhabi Global Market, adds to KKR’s regional network alongside hubs in Dubai and Riyadh and strengthens its partnership base in the UAE and wider Middle East, the firm said Wednesday. The move, still subject to final regulatory approval, comes as global investors increase their presence in Abu Dhabi, drawn by its stable economy, deep capital pools and government-led diversification push.
The office will be led by Julian Barratt-Due, KKR’s head of Middle East investing. Former CIA director and retired US Army general David Petraeus, appointed earlier this year as chairman of KKR Middle East, will support the firm’s expanded engagement in the region.
