solutions by stc, the technology arm of Saudi Telecom, has secured a 1.4 billion-riyal ($373 million) contract from Saudi Aramco to build advanced supercomputing systems aimed at strengthening the energy giant’s upstream capabilities.
The project will see the deployment of high-performance computing infrastructure designed to process vast volumes of geological and operational data, supporting critical functions such as oil and gas exploration and reservoir analysis. The contract spans one year, according to the company.
The initiative includes two integrated supercomputing systems that will operate in tandem to accelerate data processing and improve efficiency. The systems will rely on technologies from global high-performance computing providers, though specific partners were not disclosed.
Saudi Aramco, which controls the world’s largest proven crude oil reserves and remains the Kingdom’s primary revenue engine, has been aggressively investing in digital transformation to maintain its competitive edge as global energy markets shift.
For solutions by stc, the deal represents one of the most significant enterprise technology contracts awarded in the region and underscores the growing role of Saudi Arabia’s domestic technology sector in serving the country’s flagship energy companies.
