The United Arab Emirates and Canada are moving to strengthen their economic relationship, aiming to more than double bilateral trade to over $10 billion in the coming years.
Negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the two countries will begin in the coming period, state-run WAM news agency reported.
The UAE’s Minister of Foreign Trade, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, said the Gulf nation’s investments in Canada continue to grow, currently exceeding $30 billion across multiple sectors, including logistics, ports and energy.
Al Zeyoudi was speaking on the sidelines of the Canada-UAE Business Summit in Abu Dhabi, which coincided with a visit by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
