Edmond de Rothschild has hired Hamza Hamza from Nomura to lead its investment advisory business in Dubai, bolstering its Middle East operations as global private banks compete for the region’s fast-growing wealthy clients.
Hamza will take up the role on January 5, the Geneva-based private banking and asset management group said in a statement. He joins from Nomura International Wealth Management’s Dubai office, where he served as executive director and investment advisor.
Before Nomura, Hamza held senior positions at Deutsche Bank Wealth Management, Standard Chartered Private Bank and Coutts across Dubai and London.
“His track record in portfolio construction, structured solutions and client development will be a key asset as we continue to grow our presence in the region and deliver high conviction, cross asset advice to our clients,” said Jonathan Atlani, CEO of Edmond de Rothschild Middle East.
Edmond de Rothschild has been scaling up its Middle East presence, opening an advisory office in the Dubai International Financial Centre in 2024 and appointing Atlani as regional CEO last year.
📌 Why it matters: Global wealth managers are accelerating hiring in Dubai as the city cements its role as a hub for high-net-worth and ultra-wealthy clients across the Gulf and beyond.
📌 Bottom line: By recruiting a senior advisor from Nomura and expanding its regional platform, Edmond de Rothschild is intensifying its push to capture Middle East private wealth growth.
