US public companies are swapping out their top executives at a pace not seen in over a decade. And, the new leaders are turning heads for being younger and less s experienced than before.
According to a Wall Street Journal analysis, roughly one in nine CEOs at 1,500 of the nation’s largest publicly traded firms were replaced last year. That marks the highest turnover rate since at least 2010, as companies emerge from past economic turmoil and seek fresh leadership.
The trend signals a generational shift at the helm of America’s corporate giants, with boards betting on youthful energy and new perspectives to navigate today’s fast-changing business landscape.
